Project Metrics

Objectives

Led by UW-Extension Continuing Education, Outreach and E-Learning (CEOEL), University of Wisconsin Sustainable Management is an online, collaborative program offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees to busy adults who are balancing work, family, and other responsibilities.

In January 2018 our UW Sustainable Management program director, Crystal Fey, along with three program graduates, attended and presented at the National Council for Science and the Environment annual conference: Sustainable Infrastructure & Resilience.

“Each year, the NCSE brings together scientists, educators, policymakers, business leaders and officials at all levels of government to discuss how to use science in environmental policy and decision making. The Annual Conference provides a platform for a diverse community to learn from each other, collaborate and build long lasting relationships.”

The posters created for this event were used in a Poster Presentation to conference attendees. Topics included a discussion of how UW Sustainable Management capstone projects are done online, and a presentation by three UW SMGT graduates (Kristi Heintz, M.S., Deidre Schwartz, M.S., and Sarah Voska,) on their specific capstone experiences including:

Effective Activism Strategy

Implementation and Results

The NCSE conference hosted more than 500 attendees from the environmental science community across the U.S. This was an opportunity to promote the UW Sustainable Management program, its innovative capstone, and its graduates who are making their mark in their organizations and communities. It was also an opportunity for the UW SMGT program manager to make connections with like-minded individuals and organizations with a commitment to educating the next generation of sustainability advocates.
